Dear all,

This might be a very basic question but I was not able to find a solution to my problem so far.

I want to merge the Nigerian DHS 2008 and 2018 Individual Recode Data (IR) [STATA files: NGIR53FL (2008) and NGIR7AFL (2018)] with the respective DHS GPS data from these surveys [NGGE52FL (2008) and NGGE7AFL (2018)] . I downloaded all four sets of data but now struggle to combine/merge them. I know as the survey include different clusters I have to merge the 2008 DHS IR file and 2008 GPS data separately from their 2018 counterparts. The supplied DHS GPS data is not in any "usual" .dta format and I dont know how I can assign the respective clusters GPS information (longitude, latitude) to the correct clusters in the DHS IR file in STATA and I am unsure which kind of data format would be the right one (.cpg/.dbf/.prj/.sbn/.sbx/.shp/.shp/.shx).

If anyone could advice me on which kind of merging procedure, STATA code and data file to use I would greatly appreciate the help!

Thanks in advance.
Greetings
