I am working with the data of the DHS 2011 in Mozambique. When I calculate the sum of the sampling weights (HV005)in file MZHR62FL.SAV they do not add up to the number of cases of the entire sample. I understood the weights in all files are standardized and therefore the sum should equal the number of cases. Have the weights in this file not been standardized?
N.B. In other data files to which I have access (including Kyrgyz Republic) the sum of the sample weights does equal the number of cases.
If the sample weights in file MZHR62FL.SAV are the initial weights, am I correct if standardization is achieved by dividing the initial sample weight of each case by the average of all initial sample weights?
