Hello,

In the SPA Family planning data files (Malawi for example), I used the variable c301a to generate a binary variable: new vs returning client (having previous contact with FP provider). I used this binary variable in evaluating the number of FP care components received in the 'Before Procedure' section of the Injectable Contraceptive procedure, since the first two components only apply to 'new' clients, and the third component only applies to continuing/returning clients.

However, when looking through the FP data, and specifically the survey responses for the procedure, there are no missing responses for the first three components (for example, I would expect 'missing' for the first two components if it was a returning/continuing client'

Is there a different variable to use to determine whether this is a new client vs continuing client, specifically for injection procedure module?

Thank you.
