Please see the Guide to DHS Statistics for the details of the calculation of indicators. The variable to use for unmet need based on the Bradley et al definition is v626a. Using for spacing and using for limiting are considered as met need. For defining currently married women, you can use either use v501 or v502. Typically the simplest is to select v502==1.

For resources, I don't have anything specifc to point you to, but I think using a google search with the relevant keywords should help you.
