I am not sure which dataset you are working with, but when our data is distributed, it usually incudes a couples data set as well. In addition, here is a link to merging datasets from our website. http://www.measuredhs.com/data/Merging-Datasets.cfm. It provides information on the following:

•File Relationship Types
•Unique Case Identifiers
•Matching Variables
•Steps for Merging Datasets
