Hello,

I was wondering why the name of some surveys indicates that they belong to one phase number, but the recode number is different? For example, the 1997 Senegal DHS is listed (and named) as phase III, but the recode is phase II. I was using the file names to automatically select which variables are kept, but that approach does not work if the phase number and recode numbers are not the same.

If the file names do not reflect the phase format that the data are in, that might be worthwhile highlighting on the page describing the naming system.

All the best,

Claus
