Interpretation of 'Age of sexual partner' variable (v834) [message #13866]

Dear DHS users,

I am working with the Armenian DHS surveys (DHS6 and DHS7).
I want to quantify the age difference between sexual partners.

I use the time since last sex variable (v527) to filter out individuals that have not been sexually active during the past year.
Then I compute the difference between respondant age (v012) and last sexual partner age (v834a).

I computed this age difference for women (IR) and men (MR) dataset.

My results seems inconsistent. Both women and men report having last sex with an older partner in average.

I wonder if this wierd results not come from a misundersanding of v834a variable coding.

Here is the description of the variable in DHS recode manual

Does v834a (values btw 10 and 94) represents the raw last sexual partner age?
What 'BASE: Youth 15-24 who ever had sex.' means? Does it requires any adjustment?
