Dear all,

I would like to make a comparison in feeding practices in children 6 to 23 months using different DHS surveys. I realized that in many surveys the variables 412b "Gave child other porridge/gruel" and v414q "gave child oil, fats, butter, pr..." are not captured. However, I would like to make comparable surveys that have and have not those variables (412b and v414q). I was wondering if those question are not asked, are does categories are entered in broader categories?

For instance I was considering to merge v412b with v414e "gave child bread, noodles, other made from grains" and for question v412b with v414s "gave child other solid-semisolid food". At least to have a consistent food grouping even though loosing a bit of granularity in the these surveys that have that information but not losing the surveys that do not have the variables v412b and v414q. Does it make sense for you?

Many thanks for your advice,

Alberto
