Hi there, I'm working on fertility rates and cumulative fertility. After working on the data for 2014 where i used the birth and child recodes, i realized that the number of women is different in these two datasets. Could you explain what are the true definition of CASEID for the birth and child recodes, as i know, i think the birth recode shows the different households so it will be the same if both women are from the same household whereas the child recode basically identifies the different mothers and it will be the same when each mother will have a few children. If this is the case, why does the number of mothers is different in these two data sets then? Isn't it supposed to be the same number of mothers since the survey was carried out in the same year. I have read through the manual but it did not state the proper definition of CASEID for each recode. If i interpreted it wrongly, which variable actually identifies the different mothers then? Hope to hear from you soon , thank you.
