Hello,

I am using data from the 2010 survey in Burkina Faso to conduct an analysis of female genital mutilation/cutting among daughters of survey respondents. The relevant questions are questions 1109-1112 in the questionnaire included in the DHS report (variables g100-g108 & g121_, g122_). According to these questions, respondents were asked about each daughter in turn. However, looking at the data, there are substantial amounts of missing data for variable g121_ on whether the daughter was cut. It appears that there may have been an initial screening question about the number of daughters cut (variable g108) and the sequence was not asked for daughters beyond that number.

Do you know if there is any additional survey documentation for Burkina Faso that might shed light on how the questionnaire was implemented in the field?

Thanks so much
Sarah

(I see that there was a similar question asked about the Mali 2012 data (message #10044), it appears that the structure of the data is the same in these two countries.)
