Hello!

I am using the ZDHS 2010-11 data set and am focused on zwir62sv file.I understand that hemoglobin levels were adjusted for altitude and smoking. What formula did you use to determine the adjusted hemoglobin levels? FYI my study sample is focused on non-pregnant women who are non-smokers too. Can I then just adjust for altitude only? Additionally, in the data set I am analyzing V456 in the re-code manual is "Hemoglobin level adjusted by altitude (g/dl - 1 decimal)" but in the data set the very same variable V456 is labeled as "Hemoglobin level adjusted by altitude and smoking". This has left me rather confused because now I am not sure what that variable was really adjusted for. I would greatly appreciate you clarifying that for me.

My other question is with regards to the weight and height measurements. Are the weight(V478) and height(V438)variables measurements for women with of children that were born 0 to 59 months preceding the survey ONLY?. If yes, would I have to obtain the weight, height, and BMI from the household survey for all other women? Would that also be the case for the hemoglobin measures that were taken. I had been under the assumption that since the same question is asked in several places in the questionnaire, but to different respondents. In the re-code file these variables are combined and created in a form that is easier to use for analysis. Variables for household characteristics are included in the women, men, and children's files. Would the weight of all eligible women (without children and with children born 0-59 months prior to the survey)from the household survey be combined with the women files?

Thank you!
