Usually for neonatal mortality, you'd be interested in children who died in their first year, not those born in the year since the survey took place.

But in general, a combination of the age at survey, date of survey, and year of birth should easily let you select the children you want. Check out the "b" variables: B1-9 in particular.

Also note - for neonatal mortality, you must drop all children less than 1 month old (because you don't yet know if they will live until they get past the 1 month threshold for neonatal mortality).

Let me know if you continue to have trouble, but essentially all the variables you need are the dates of the survey (V006 and V007), the year of of birth (B2), whether they died (and their age at death if relevant - B5 and B6) and you drop all the children you don't want to include based on that information.
