I assume that you are referring to Nigeria DHS 2013. Right?

However, questions about current attendance (code 1) are not asked in recent surveys. In previous surveys, this code was used such as in Nigeria 2003 (See frequency of HV121 included in the distributed data files), in which HV121 comes from the household schedule questions 16 and 17.

Since the variable HV121 was retained and the questions about current school attendance (See, for example, questions 16 and 17 of the DHS phase IV model questionnaire) were dropped, code 1 is kept in the recode variable HV121 but not used, unless the questions are included as country specific questions and in this case the code 1 could be used.
