I am using the EDHS 2000, EDHS 2005 and EDHS 2011 to look into the trends of WASH. I am using only household data. I am using SPSS.

Do I have to apply weight when preforming simple descriptive statistics and cross tabulation using variables representing population subgroups such as urban/rural, different regions of the country (administrative regions/states)?
How about when using the entire population e.g. to see proportion of the population with access to improved water?

Thank you
