Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question, but I was wondering if you had anything to help guide the grouping of occupations into the categories that you have in the survey:

Professional/technical/managerial
Clerical
Sales and services
Skilled manual
Unskilled manual
Domestic service
Agriculture

Specifically, the ones I have questions about are "sales and services", and the difference between "skilled" and "unskilled" manual and where Professional/technical comes in. Just wondering if you have any quick guidance that you might give your data collectors or your data entry folks to guide them in this. I have things like "hairdresser" and "tailor" and I'm not sure where to put them. Thanks for your help. I'd be lost without this forum!
