By default Stata shows just the first 8 characters of a value label when you are in the data editor. You can disable the displaying of the labels and just show the numeric value by right clicking on the variable name at the top of a column, and selecting Data, Value Labels, Hide All Value Labels. To see the full text of the value labels for a variable, use the label list command, e.g.

label list v158
