Hi,

I am working with the 2000 and 2010 data set for Colombia in Stata and I have a question regarding the sample weights. I am interested in knowing the total number of children who have birth registration in Colombia, so I'm using a simple tab with the weight just as described in DHS page.

With 2000 data I have no problem: the results show me there are around 4 million children under 4 years in Colombia. However, with 2010 data the results show 1.5 million children, which is not true according to Colombian census.

I realize that 2010 data for children is merged with household data, but 2000 is not. However, when I merge children and household for 2000 data set just as described in DHS page, it start to happened the same: the results show that there are like 1.5 million children in Colombia. It's like if merging children and household data sets damages the wages!

Anyone have an idea of why this is happening?

Thank you so much!

Jorge.
