Hi. I'm having some issues merging data from DHS individual files to IPUMS-DHS.
I have a IPUMS-DHS extract that contains variables from Malawi and Rwanda. I'm trying to add the precipitation contextual variables to this extract as well as the individual file from Rwanda and Malawi to the extract.

When I tried to add the precipitation file, I get the following error (I'm trying to merge using the dhsid variable as suggested in the user note) .:
variable precip_32 is double in master but str11 in using data

For the DHS individual files, I am trying to merge the IPUMS extract first with Malawi. I first created the idhspid variable in the Malawi dhs dataset as suggested in the user notes, but when I merge with the IPUMS extract, I get the following error message:
variable sample is long in master but str5 in using data

Thanks very much for your help!
Kajal
