Following is a response from DHS Director, Anjushree Pradhan:

1. For reproductive health care, the women aged between 15-49 years who delivered their children 5 years before the survey were selected and Why?

The DHS surveys interview women of reproductive age (age 15-49) to derive the key demographic and health indicators. The reference period for the assessment of the indicators varies. In the 2015 MDHS, information on maternal health care was collected for women who had a live birth in the 5 years preceding the survey, which was the standard. However, the in DHS-8 the reference period has been reduced to 3 years preceding the survey that mitigates any recall bias.

2. For Rakhine State, v045b and v45c mentioned that they used other languages. Is there any weakness or difficulty due to language or ethnicity for the survey?

As the interviewers were selected from the specific regions there were no challenges faced during the survey due to language barriers.
