Dear DHS representative,

In your response to my question about how to generate the Mother's Age at most recent birth, I used the IR file and create the variable accordingly. (STATA 13)

I watched a video on youtube in which the merging of two DHS files was done on v001 & v002. The tutor said, there should be no duplicates when we use these two variables simultaneously ie: (my stata command as the example below)

merge 1:m v001 v002 AgeofMOOm using "file location to be mereged"

However, before merging I checked for duplicates for V001 & V002 simultaneously (as taught in that tutorial) and found that there are duplicates.

On my attempt to do so using the following command: merge 1:m v001 v002 using "/Users/syed Hussain/Documents/Workig Directory for Stata/All Neonatal Data Asse sment/Merging Files /Merge Parent BR PK 6 Region Data .dta"

I got this message from STATA:

"variables v001 v002 do not uniquely identify observations in the master data"

Question: Kindly tell me how I should merge the mother's age at the time of most recent birth present in the IR file to my main file on which I am doing analysis (BR file) in presence of duplicates in v001 & v002.

Waiting for your response.

Best Regards

Dr. Hussain
