I am using the DHS 2015-16 for India. Eligible Women Module. Section 10. HIV/AIDS

Was this section only administered to those who were tested for HIV? I ask because there is a lot of missing data in this module. For example, the question about "have you ever heard of hiv/aids" is the first question in the section and it has 577,335 missing data points out of 699,686, even though there is no skip notes before that.

In NFHS-5, not all sections of the questionnaire are administered to every eligible women. All eligible women answer the questions in Section 1-7 of the woman's questionnaire, but only a subsample are asked the questions in Sections 8-11, which includes the HIV section. The identification block on the cover page of the woman's questionnaire include the following question: "Is household selected for the state module?" The state module is essentially the long version of the questionnaire. There is a filter question at the end of Section 7 of the woman's questionnaire (Q. 732) that checks whether or not the household was selected for the state module. If the answer is NO, then the interviewer skips to the end of the questionnaire. The same procedure was used in the NFHS-4 survey.

Thank you this is very helpful. I have then one additional question: Which sampling weight will be appropriate for this sub-sample?

You should use variable V005 for women and MV005 for men for weighting. In both of these cases, the variable has to be divided by one million.
