Hi,

I am trying to find out the mechanism for sample selection for women for the domestic violence module in Colombia surveys. I remember reading a footnote somewhere reading Colombia is an exception to the usual DHS method of selecting women for the domestic violence module (since in Colombia, all eligible women in a household are surveyed whereas the usual is one eligible woman per household). I am unable to find documentation in English which mentions the sample selection of women within the household for this module. It would be great if I could get help with this. Thanks!

Aditi

P.S. Sorry I posted this question on a different forum earlier (other countries) but this forum seems more relevant so I'm posting it here again. I could not find a delete message option for the previous one.

Dear User, can you please let us know which survey you are working with? There are numerous Colombia surveys. The final reports usually have an appendix dedicated to the sampling process. I would also check chapter 1 which sometimes has information on general sampling procedures for what is covered in the questionnaires. You may also want to check the chapter dedicated to domestic violence and finally the questionnaires. They are in Spanish. In the meantime, I will check with those who worked on the survey to find out what I can. Thank you!

Dear User, a response from Data Processing Specialist Guillermo Rojas:
Quote:

In Colombia all eligible women were selected for Domestic Violence. There wasn't any subsampling and it is spelled out in the recode documentation distributed with the files.

Hi Liz, I am using a cluster level panel for all available datasets, I assume the sampling method is consistent across years so if I can know the sampling for one year, I would generalize it to the rest. Let me know if I understanding this correctly.

Thanks, Data Processing Specialist Guillermo Rojas for clarifying that. However, I am still slightly confused, I looked at the recode manuals here( https://dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-dhsg4-dhs-qu estionnaires-and-manuals.cfm) but I am still not able to find anything specific to Colombia sampling. Am I looking at the wrong document?
