I am requesting that a validated series of questions to identify psychological distress (depression and anxiety) be added to the DHS questionnaire as an optional module. The K6 or K10 scales developed by Dr. Ronald Kessler, now at Harvard Medical School, could be used to evaluate the prevalence of postpartum depression or more broadly to evaluate the prevalence and covariates of psychological distress in the adult population. I attach information about these questions/indicators, filled out on the Template for Revisions to the DHS Model Questionnaire, Optional Modules, and BioMarkers for DHS-8.
