Dear colleagues,

We are submitting recommendations to strengthen the data collection and analysis of sources of care for childhood illness and family planning (see attachment). We recommend these changes in order to standardize and clarify the categorization of sources of care for childhood illness and family planning services, and to contribute to more accurate estimation of careseeking in the private sector. Extensive analyses of DHS data by the USAID-funded SHOPS Plus project have informed the recommendations made in the attached document.

We are grateful for your consideration of these inputs, and for the extensive efforts you will be undertaking to strengthen the DHS-8.
