I have been trying to calculate the infant mortality rate for each year from some time in the 1980s to 2012 using IPUMS coded DHS data from India and Pakistan. I have tried using the ltable related code as well as the syncmrates package, but I am facing difficulties with coding it such that I get yearly rates - it seems that the basic codes only calculate based on the survey date given (5 years before the survey/10 years etc), so I am confused about how to implement this using multiple survey iterations.
In particular, I do need the confidence intervals of these estimates as well, and not just a point estimate.
Any help would be appreciated!
