Greetings,

I'm writing with a question regarding the 2015-2016 Malawi DHS. I need to pull some variable values for the 15-24 female cohort at the district level. I've accessed the data files, isolated the needed districts, and kept data for the 15-24 female group. As expected, the sample is very, very small. In the case of Balaka district, there is only data for 391 women. My question: is this sample too small in order to report on select vars?

Thanks,
Kaja

Following is a response from Senior Senior Sampling Specialist, Mahmoud Elkasabi:

I would not say 391 women is a very small sample size. With the 391 cases, you might be able to produce indicators with very good, acceptable or bad precision. It depends on the nature of the indicators you are interested in. I would advise you to estimate the standard error of each indicator and calculate the confidence interval to evaluate how good the precision is.
