When will Niger DHS 2012 GPS datasets become available? The survey datasets are now available.

I am a bit confused since the website now says GPS not distributed - does that mean they will NEVER be distributed or that they are not yet currently available to the public?

Thanks
Emily

Emily,

Unfortunately, we will not be releasing the GPS data for the Niger 2012 DHS. This is due to quality issues with the data that we were unable to correct.

If this has not answered your question adequately, please reply.

My apologies if I missed this in the final report, but can you tell me how the de facto residence region variables (v101) align with the region names? Is it simply the order shown in some of the tables in the report: 1 = Agadez, 2 = Diffa and so on up to 8 = Niamey?
Also, since we don't have the GPS data, is any of the sampling information available (Zones de Dénombrement, département, canton, etc.) - anything that would help with the geographic information a bit?
Thanks!

And is this also the same reason why dhsprogram cannot release spatial data for Pakistan (PDHS 2012-13)?

Gillian: Thanks for your post. Which recode file are you using? In the individual recode file currently available on the website, the regions in the v101 variable are labeled with the region names. Variable v024 also gives the region names. For both variables, the labels do indeed correspond to the order that the regions appear in the tables in the final report.
Please refer to this post about why we do not give administrative unit names in our data below the level of the DHS region http://userforum.dhsprogram.com/index.php?t=msg&th=70&am p;start=0&. You can view and download the DHS region boundaries of the Niger 2012 DHS on our Spatial Data Repository website ( http://spatialdata.dhsprogram.com/boundaries.html?country=NI)

Owraza: For the Pakistan 2012 DHS, please see this other forum post regarding the GPS dataset: http://userforum.dhsprogram.com/index.php?t=msg&goto=233 4&S=1333d6f0ceb49dfaa0e875b90750a8a2&srch=Pakistan#m sg_2334).
