Dear,

Unlike NFHS 2 and 3, the NFHS 4 does not have a state individual weight.

kindly help to understand why it was dropped.

Following is a response from Senior DHS Specialist, Guillermo Rojas:

Variables SHV005, SV005, and SM005S are the state weights for households, women and men respectively.

Thank you, Bridgette and Guillermo, for the information.

Map file for individual dataset enlists SV005 as State household weight (6 decimals), hence, the confusion.

index.php?t=getfile&id=939&private=0

Best,

You are right about the confusion caused by the label. It should read: "State women's sample weight (6 decimals)", and it will be corrected it in the next release.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
