Hello, I am working with the NFHS 4 data (IAIR73SV). While looking at the variables pertaining to justification of domestic violence in the women's Individual Recode I came across two sets of variables that seem to be relating to this topic - V744A-E and S936F-G.
Would someone be able to tell me what the difference is between these two sets? Thank you.
Best Wishes,
Aneree

Dear Aneree and others,
A quick note that this type of confusion is one reason we've created IPUMS DHS as an alternative to the original DHS files.
In IPUMS DHS, you can find all the domestic violence variables grouped together under the TOPICS drop-down menu. Furthermore, if you click on any variable name, you'll see the specific survey question used to generate that variable. Just click on the SURVEY TEXT tab. From there, if you click on "text" next to "View entire document," the system will take you into the survey precisely where the question was asked. This helps to see if there are other related questions and also to get a sense of skip patterns.
IPUMS DHS has a lot of DHS samples now, so I recommend starting by selecting the samples that interest you. That makes browsing the variables easier.
