Hello,

I'm having trouble finding the definitions of the regions in Kenya. I'm using data from 2008-09 DHS variables V101/V024 and would like to know which regions correspond to region 1, region 2 etc. specified in the coding map.

Thanks so much for any help!

Based on information in IPUMS-DHS, here's my understanding of the labels that go with the Region codes for V101 in Kenya 2008:
1) Nairobi
2) Central
3) Coast
4) Eastern
5) Nyanza
6) Rift Valley
7) Western
8) Northeastern

Sometimes, to allow harmonization across samples, different codes are given for a variable in IPUMS-DHS than for that variable in the original DHS files, but in this case IPUMS-DHS and the original DHS files use the same code numbers and variable labels. I don't have any further information beyond the labels above.
