Within the 2015 survey data, where can I find the strata variable to account for the complex sampling structure? I have seen that in most surveys this is called HV022 and should be in the household survey, but this is not the case.
Thank you!

Following is a response from DHS Senior Sampling Specialist, Mahmoud Elkasabi:
It is true that the datasets of the 2015 Egypt Special Survey do not follow the standard format of the DHS data especially with regard to the variable names. This is because the Special Survey is not a standard DHS survey; it is true that it is based on a sub-sample of clusters that were selected for the 2014 Egypt DHS, but the Special Survey covered different topics. Regarding the stratification variable, although there is no HV022 or HV023 in the survey data, there is "hstrata" that was created for the same purpose, however, unfortunately when I check the variable I found that it has missing values. Luckily, you should be able to retrieve the correct stratification by using the cross-classification of both "hgovern" and "htype", since the stratification was created by taking into consideration the urban/rural areas within each governorate.
