Hi,

The variables (h37i and h37j) include information on the antibiotic use for fever/cough/respiratory symptoms among under 5 children. But there is no observation found in the DHS phase VII datasets for India, Myanmar and Bangladesh although the antibiotic use data from these variables were reported in the respective reports. Not sure if anyone has raised this question before. Could anyone advice, please?
Here are the names of the data files:

Bangladesh : BDKR72FL.DTA
India : IAKR71FL.DTA
Myanmar : MMKR71FL.DTA

Following is a response from Senior DHS Stata Specialist, Tom Pullum:

It appears that the questions about antibiotics were asked with options for specific types and these are coded in separate variables, not with h37i or h37j. In the Bangladesh survey, for example, they are given in the KR file with 7 variables s538g through s538m. I found them by entering the command "lookfor antib", which searches through variable lables. You could do the same for the India and Myanmar KR files.

Dear Mr. Tom Pullum and DHS team,

Thanks for your kind response.
Yes, it works well and I can get antibiotic usage for fever from Myanmar and Bangladesh KR files. However, in India I can only find overall information of antibiotic use i.e antibiotic taken via any method (oral /injection). That is variable "ml13n". The other variables got no observations ( h37i, h37j, ml13i and ml13j). It would be great if I could get the detailed information by route of administration. Could you also help me with this?

Best regards,
Phyumar

Following is a response from Mianmian Yu, Senior Data Processing Specialist:

Surveys in different countries can be different in details and certain questions are country specific. In NFHS-4, there was no question asked about whether antibiotics were taken orally or through injection.
