Hello team,
I am working on the 2015-2016 Malawi DHS and I am having trouble finding the categories for some country-specific variables such as V130 (Religion) and V131 (Tribe).
Thank you all in advance for your help.

Dear User,
I don't understand your post.
Q122 Religion has been recoded to V130
Q123 Ethnicity has been recoded to V131
These are standard recode variables. There are no country specific variables for Religion and Ethnicity. If you look at your weighted frequencies you will see V130 and V131 with their respective labels.

FYI, all the Malawi DHS samples are in IPUMS-DHS (available at idhsdata.org), and going to the IPUMS-DHS website, I was quickly able to find the responses for RELGION (V130) and Malawi ethnicity (V131 fpr MW). The codes that show up on the IPUMS-DHS website are the recoded values, consistent across all samples, but you can log in with your DHS user email and password and make an extract for the Malawi samples and whatever variables most interest you. If you use the "sample selection" feature, you can display just the variables available in Malawi samples and, by clicking on a variable name, you can learn about the variable in depth, including codes and frequencies, who was included in this variable (universe), question wording, and comparability issues.
