Please kindly help me with calculating ASFR using Ghana dhs.
I used the syntax below to tabulate v238 with v013 to obtain number of births in the last three years to women in each age group

DATASET ACTIVATE DataSet1.
MEANS TABLES=V238 BY V013
/CELLS=MEAN COUNT SUM

However, when I divide birth by the population of women in the age group, the outcome does not match with that of the GDHS report.

Dear User, Please refer to The Guide to DHS Statistics: https:// www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-dhsg1-dhs-questi onnaires-and-manuals.cfm Beginning on page 26, the calculations are explained along with some examples. If you still have questions after reviewing this section, please feel free to post again. In your analysis you should always make use of The Guide to DHS Statistics https:// www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-dhsg1-dhs-questi onnaires-and-manuals.cfm, The Standard Recode Manual https:// www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-DHSG4-DHS-Questi onnaires-and-Manuals.cfm, and the questionnaires for the survey(s) you are working with. The questionnaires can be found in one of the appendices in the final report. If you are working with the latest Ghana DHS 2014 survey, the final report can be found on our website: https:// www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-FR307-DHS-Final- Reports.cfm

Many Thanks, Bruno for the link, Its been more helpful, However, I tried running the program with the GDHS 2008, the output showed some error messages. I tried with the children file(Kr) and also the IR women file. I tried locating the section of the legacy file from the dhs file but was unable. I will be most grateful if I could some directions as how to run these programs.
Thanks so much
Michael
