Dear DHS users,

I am using Burundi DHS-2010 and my interest is in timely & completion ANC. I apply for the Dataset from DHS Program and got, however, some variables of interest especially the dependent variables and some explanatory variables are missing as shown below.

My outcome of interest (coded "m13_1 to 6: timing of 1st antenatal check (month) and m14_1 to 6": number of antenatal visits during pregnancy ) are missing in the IR dataset yet they exist in the Women questionnaire and codebook. Also other variables of interest like distance to health facility, health insurance status, marital status, pregnancy wanted, complication's pregnancy, frequency for radio, TV and news are also missing. I kindly ask you for your advise for which Dataset to use or how to get a new Dataset which have those variables.

Best regards.

Dear Liz, thanks you very much for your support. I watched the videos you sent but still the issue was not resolved. As i said in the first message, i am interest in antenatal care (timely & completion ANC). Using the IR Dataset for women provided, my outcome variables of interest and some explanatory variables are missing as shown below.

My outcome of interest (coded "m13_1 to 6: timing of 1st antenatal check (month) and m14_1 to 6": number of antenatal visits during pregnancy ) are missing in the IR dataset yet they exist in the Women questionnaire and codebook. Also other variables of interest like distance to health facility, health insurance status - v481, marital status, pregnancy wanted - m10, complication's pregnancy m43 and m44
, frequency for radio, TV and news paper - 157 to 159, services received during pregancy: Weight m42a, Height m42b, BP m42c, Urine sample m42d, Blood sample m42e, Deworming m60, getting medical help for self v467 a to i and final say on on own health care are also missing. I kindly ask you to provide another Dataset which have those variables.

Best regards.

When I look at my copy of the datasets I see most of the variables you mention e.g.
. summ m13_1

Variable | Obs Mean Std. Dev. Min Max
-------------+---------------------------------------------------------
       m13_1 | 4,865 5.14964 6.003649 0 99
Perhaps you have accidentally subsetted your dataset and dropped some variables?
I'm using BUIR61DT.ZIP [BUIR61FL.dta inside the zip file] - I assume you are using Stata.
I suggest downloading the dataset again to be sure.
