Hi there,

I am using data from the 2012 Continuous Survey for Peru in order to calculate age-specific fertility rates (ASFRs) per each region for both urban and rural areas.

I understand that Lima and Callao are combined as one region, but are kept separate in the recode files.

This means that when I run my (Stata) code, I receive ASFRs for Lima and Callao as two SEPARATE regions. However, I need to combine these two regions in order to match the TFR (2.1) in the final report for Lima (which includes Callao).

Therefore, I am wondering how these two regions have been combined by the DHS in order to produce the estimates provided in the final report for Peru 2012? I have considered recoding the data so that Lima and Callao=(the same value) and then run the code.. however I wanted to ensure there isn't another way before going ahead with this?
