Following is a response from Senior DHS Stata Specialist, Tom Pullum:

BMI is measured in units of kilograms divided by (meters squared). For example, if someone is 2 meters tall (6 ft. 6.74 inches) and weighs 100 kg (220.462 pounds) then their BMI is 100/(2 squared) = 100/4=25. See http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmic alc.htm, for example.

Another response from Tom Pullum:

V445 is actually the BMI multiplied by 100. Sorry for ignoring that factor. Most of the anthropometry numbers in the data file have a factor of some power of 10. You need to divide by 100 to get the BMI. The units of measurement are as I described them, weight / height squared, with weight in kilograms and height in meters.
