Hello,

1. I would like to ask you how to calculate the primary net attendance, as in the report I found 77.1 %, but when I did the command below (in Stata), I found different result, which is 71.39%

tab hv121 [iw= hv005/1000000] if hv102 == 1 & hv105 >= 6 & hv105 <= 12

The primary-school-age is 6-12 years, and I thought it is only for de jure children, but even without distinction of usual resident, I found 71.38%.

2. It makes me wondering also about the sample. In the report, the de jure population is 60 587, but I really found a different result, it is 61 842

tab hv102

Many thanks for your help

Following is a response from Senior DHS Stata Specialist, Tom Pullum:

If you open the PR file and do "tab1 hv102 hv103" with and without weights you find that

--61,842 is the unweighted number of de jure residents;
--60,587 is the weighted number of de jure residents;
--61,159 is the unweighted number of de facto residents;
--59,831 is the weighted number of de facto residents.

The numbers in DHS reports are weighted unless explicitly stated to the contrary. The tables in the Mozambique 2011 report have totals of either 60,587 or 59,831, depending on the de jure vs. de facto criterion.

Regarding your question on school attendance, please tell me the specific table in which you find 77.1% but think the correct number would be 71.39%

Thank you for your response.
For the table, it is Table 2.13 in the report (page 38)

Quadro 2.13 Taxas de frequĂȘncia escolar
Taxa lĂquidas,and for Total 77.1%.

Thank you.
