Hello:

I need to calculate comparative wealth index (CWI) for a recent surveys of Bangladesh- BDHS-2014. To check that I am following the correct procedure, I have already replicated the results for Benin 2006, BDHS 2007 and BDHS 2004 from the paper "Making the DHS wealth index comparable"(http://www.dhsprogram.com/pubs/pdf/MR9/MR9.pdf) and the spreadsheet I get from this forum (attached).

However, I am struggling to obtain the same figures as outlined in table 3.1 (p. 18, document linked above) and coefficients in the attached spreadsheet (below) for BDHS 2011. There are some confusions in selecting variable for UBN in BDHS 2011. Therefore I have some questions regarding variable selection in BDHS 2011:

1. To get the information on the employment status of women should I first extract the women in 15-49 age group (using variable V012) in individual recode file?

2. To get the information on the employment status of their husband should I use variable V704 (because V705 is not available in BDHS 2011) or should I use variable V730 and extract only working age husband in 15-64 age group? For BDHS 2004 and Benin 2006 I have used V705 and was able to replicate the coefficients.

3. For household members age 15 to 24, education is only considered if they are not attending school (HV 110). But BDHS 2011 does not have Variable HV110. Should I use HV121 for this purpose. How can I recode HV121? Note: It is surprising that in BDHS 2011 variable HV121 shows no household members "Currently attending (=1)" school.

Thank you!
