Hi,

I'd like to confirm if this 2015 special DHS provide full birth history info. And if the following columns in the data file "EGIQ73FL.sav" are:

  • A109C: date of birth for child (CMC);
  • AGEND: sex of child;
  • A100C: age of mother for each child;

May I know if there's a column indicating the birth order (or parity) for each child? Thanks.

Regards,
Chao

Following is a response from Senior DHS Data Processing Specialist, Noureddine Abderrahim:

In the special Egypt 2015, there are three questionnaires: A household questionnaire, an adult questionnaire, and a children questionnaire. The adult questionnaire is asked for both men and women in the range age defined by the questionnaire 15-59. The children questionnaire is asked for children 6 months-14 years. The date of birth is asked for both adult and children. For men and women 15-59 defined by AGEND (Gender of the respondent), the date of birth is asked in question 109 and the CMC date of birth of the adult is stored in A109C. The date of birth of the child is asked in question 103 and the CMC date of birth is stored in C103C.
