How do I access DHS data, and is there a charge for using the data?

ICF International is a for-profit company that is implementing the MEASURE DHS Phase III project, under a federally funded contract. All DHS data are publicly available through our website http://www.measuredhs.com and are free of charge. We are authorized to distribute all unrestricted survey data files for research/analysis, with the condition that we receive a description of any project that will be using the data. Researchers must apply for a download account before they can download datasets. Applications for a download account will be reviewed and researchers will be notified within 48 hours once the registration has been accepted.

DHS statistics can also be obtained using the STATcompiler tool: http://www.statcompiler.com. This online database tool allows users to select numerous countries and hundreds of indicators to create customized tables that serve their specific data needs. It accesses nearly all of the population and health indicators that are published in DHS final reports: http://www.measuredhs.com/publications/publication-search.cf m?type=5. Authorization is not needed to use the STATcompiler.

To register for a download account, please go to:

http://www.measuredhs.com/data/new-user-registration.cfm

I hope this helps.
