Hello,

I can I find the data of infant and neonataal mortality in the 2011-2012 survey in Tanzania? How can I find the number of pregnant women in Mainland Tanzania (Njombe, Dodoma, and Dare es Salaam)?

Thanks!

Dear User,
The calculation of the mortality estimates in DHS surveys is described in the Guide to DHS Statistics ( http://www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-dhsg1-dhs -questionnaires-and-manuals.cfm) pages 90-94.

The Tanzania HIV/AIDS and Malaria Indicator Survey 2011-12 was not designed to produce infant and neonatal mortality estimates so they cannot be produced from this survey. The proportion of women pregnant can be found at the link here in the STATcompiler

Hello,

How can I find the variable: number of antenatal visits in the Tanzania 2011-2012 survey. Also, the variables of comprhensive HIV knowledge, awarness of HIV testing services coverage, and HIV testing and counseling as shown in the HIV/AIDS and Malaria Indicator Survey?

Please see the DHS recode manual to find the variables that you are interested in. Searching here you will find that M14 is the variable for the number of antenatal visits. For the HIV related variables see the variables starting at V751. Note that for comprehensive knowledge, there is no single variable, but you need to combine several variables, as is discussed in the footnotes of the report tables on comprehensive knowledge.

Hi Liz

The link you shared with us seems to be removed [ http://www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-dhsg1-dhs]. Can you please help with a way of sending us the link or the document itself, as I am still struggling with the calculations.

Regards
Tshepho Matlwa

The link has a space in the name. It should be: http://www.dhsprogram.com/publications/publication-DHSG1-DHS -Questionnaires-and-Manuals.cfm
