Iam doing an analysis on coverage of improved sanitation facilities in different countries. However, I am having problems in weighting the data.what weights should I use? I want to eventually calculate frequencies of different sanitation facilities by area (rural/urban) and private/shared. What should be my weight variable

Following is a response from Senior DHS Sampling Specialist, Ruilin Ren:

You should use the household standard weight HV005. Note that you need to divide HV005 by 1,000,000 in the data step before use it because the variable was multiplied by 1,000,000 in the standard DHS data recoding. Note also that the DHS weight is a relative weight which is aimed to produce the number of weighted cases, same as the number of un-weighted cases for all interviewed households at national level.
