Hello,

The variables that I am interested in are included in "other data" file (egod5) of 2008. First, what is the unit of analysis for this dataset? Second, where can I find explanation of the included variables? I tried to explore "Recode 5 DHS manual", but I got lost. Under what section can I find the explanation of the variables and the unit of analysis for "other data" dataset?

Thank you.

As a follow up on my initial post, I will try to restate my question in a specific way. At the end of Egypt report, there is a Health Issues Questionnaire, in which I am interested in. I found the corresponding questions are included in "other data" dataset. However, the variables in this file start with "i" letter. I cannot find the corresponding variables, which start with "i", in the DHS Recode Manual. So, my question is where I can find the detailed descriptions of the variables that are included in the "other data" dataset. One more thing, I understood from the questionnaire that the unit of analysis is the individual, right?

Thank you again.

The other dataset is not recoded, and is therefore not referenced in the recode manual. Please use the .map file found within the files you downloaded, as your codebook. This file can be opened with any text editor.
