Hi all,
I am using the Ethiopia couples data for 2005 and 2011,
I know the couples record already has the male and female data linked/merged
and each couple is identified by the caseid but I am having trouble
summarizing the couples data in stata: for example I am interested in summary demographics of the couples ie. age, religion, wealth index etc. When I try to get information instead of a summary,
I get a long list (thousands) containing data for each couple. Please help! How do I get summary statistics in stata version 11: so far I have been trying : by caseid: tab religion etc, what codes do I use in stata to produce statistics of my couples ie. each couples ages, education, religion etc?

I'm not sure exactly what you want (the "by caseid" makes me wonder), but maybe you want to use the "summarize" command. That gives means (along with sds, min/max, etc.). If that isn't what you want, try to give me a more specific idea of what you are looking to compute.
