Hi

has anyone been able to merge the wealth data from ethiopia 2000 into the individual recode file in stata, i get an error message, tried merging on variables v001 and v002 , after creating these from whhid and renaming qnd declaring the variables to be the same across different files, but unfortunately this didnt work as not all the results are unique, eg, for 1101, this could be 1 101 or 11 01 or 101 1

If anyone has any suggestions as to how i can merge the wealth data it is much appreciated

If you post your log from the merge (with error message), that would be helpful for us Stata users in debugging your commands

For samples included in IPUMS-DHS (available at idhsdata.org), much of the merging between files has already been done for researchers. When the wealth index data or the child biometric data are in separate files in the original DHS data, we have done the merging already. Siminlarly, we have merged the household data to the women's recode files, and we have merged the household and mother's files to the files for children (KR files) and births (BR files). All of the standard DHS surveys for Ethiopia are in IPUMS-DHS; you can find the wealth index variables under their original DHS names or the IPUMS-DHS names of WEALTHQ and WEALTHS.
