Dear users/advisors,
Is it possible to use the child recode from DHS for analysis of MICS child datasets?HAs anyone merged these two survey databases in one analysis?

I'm not sure why you would want to merge the two datasets together, but it is certainly possible to produce comparable estimates for many child health indicator from both the MICS child datasets and the DHS Child Recode (KR) datasets. I would analyze them separately, producing separate results for each survey. There are some things to be aware of in analyzing these data, principally that MICS collects information on all children under 5 usually resident in the household, while DHS produces information on all children under 5 of interviewed mothers. This does mean that a small fraction of children who are maternal orphans are excluded from analysis in DHS, but this has a negligible effect on national estimates of most child health indicators.

This is not possible because both have very different sample designs. MICS provide district level while DHS provide regional/territory level estimates.
Another possible reason is that provided by Mr/Ms Trevor.
