Hi all,

Does anyone know if there exists a file that gives the names of each cluster, corresponding to the cluster codes, in the DHS for South Africa?

South Africa does not have GPS data from the looks of it, so I would like to work out the locations of each cluster myself.

Thanks,
Dan

Dan,

You are correct that GPS data is not available for the 1998 or 2003 South Africa surveys. Due to the confidentiality requirements of the data, The DHS Program is not allowed to distribute information providing the settlement name for each cluster. For information on why administrative labels below the DHS regions level, such as municipal names, are suppressed from the survey recode files, please refer to the following threads:

Please respond if this has not adequately answered your question.
