For 2014 and 2022, approximately half of the data for baby size are missing. Kenya is the only country like this (there are others with 100% missing data and most others have about 2% missing cases). The children are all under 36 months, and I can't find anything in the questionnaire skip patterns that would explain it.

Does anyone know why so many cases are missing? There is no socioeconomic gradient of missingness.

Following is a response from Senior DHS staff member, Tom Pullum:

Hi Laurie--A dot (".") in Stata means NA or Not Applicable--that is, the question was not asked. It is not "missing" in the sense of NR or No Response.

The Kenya surveys had long and short versions of the questionnaire. See pages 3-4 of the main report. Also, this has come up on the forum in other posts about the Kenya surveys.

The selection was random, in alternating households. The long form was administered in households selected for the men's interview.
