Hello,

In the NFHS-5 Household Questionnaire, question 37 asks who in the household fetches water. There are two categories: adult woman and adult man, among the other ones. Is it that the adult woman/man they are referring to is 15 years or above? Because the other two categories are for an under 15 female/male.

Thank you.

You can find the detailed information you need in detail on the Guide to DHS Statistics (December, 2023) on the DHS Program website (https//www.dhsprogram.com/pubs/pdf/DHSG1/Guide_to_DHS_Stati stics_DHS_Statistics_DHS-8.pdf. ). The information is on Pages 16.2 and 16.3.

Definition 2 shows the Percent distribution of de jure population in households without drinking water on premises by the person who usually collects drinking water used in the household: Adult female age 15 or over, adult male age 15- or older, female child under age 15, male child under age 15,, or person not in household.

The Population base is the de jure household population (HR file or PR file. The time period is Current status at time of survey.

This should provide all the information that you need.
